Zermatt snow report 25.12.2012

Here is the latest snow report from our team in Zermatt

There is 180cm of snow at the top of the Zermatt ski area with 50cm on the lower pistes. The last snowfall saw 12cm come down on the 22nd.

Over the next three days snow in the evenings combined with sunny days should lend itself to good ski conditions. Thursday appears to be the most promising with clear skies all day. Temperatures continue to stay mild throughout the week, with minimal winds and an average temperature of -6.

Mild weather in Zermatt combined with heavy snowfall has lead to an increased avalanche risk, with it advisable to not even consider attempting off piste. However grooming and good snowfall has lead to excellent conditions on the slopes, notably Cervinia and the Gornergrat regions having the best ski conditions.

Zermatt continues its Christmas festivities this week with a variety of parties and special events within the resort. Be sure to check out the Champagne Ice Bar outside the Grandhotel Zermatterhof for something special. With the resort currently at its busiest since its opening, be sure to make the most of the party spirit that will continue right the way through until the New Year
