Zermatt snow report 15.01.2013
Here is the latest snow report from our team in Zermatt.
There is 225cm of snow at the top of the Zermatt ski area and 80cm in resort. There was a fall of 20cm of fresh snow on Friday last week.
340km of the 360km of pistes are open along with 25 of the 54 lifts.
The next three days sees the return of snow and scattered sunshine, offering good snow conditions mixed with blue sky afternoons and mornings. Tuesday sees Zermatt receive approximately 7cm of new snow, with light top ups throughout the week. Temperatures continue to remain low, with an average temperature of -17. Wind chill is set to remain high, with temperatures at the top of the mountain expected to drop below -30
Ski conditions are currently fantastic. With an already strong base, heavy snowfall in the past week has not only see runs become more refreshed, but offer fantastic powder conditions on even the busiest runs. With Zermatt currently quieter than is the norm, the piste is staying in superb condition right until the end of the day. Runs guests are currently enjoying on Ski Hosting are RED 15, 9, 35,41, 1.00 and BLUE 38,7.
This week sees the 22nd Horu Trophy outdoor Curling Tournament in Zermatt, with 76 teams competing on 19 different rinks. Be sure to take this in with superb views of the Matterhorn in the background. For the ultimate snow experience, be sure to take in the igloo village on the piste at Gornergrat, for anything from a drink to evening fondue!
