Zermatt Snow Report, 12 Mar 2010

Chalet in ZermattThe snow depth is 132cm at the top of the Matterhorn Glacier Paradise whilst the local runs into the resort have a depth of  22cm.

90% of the runs in resort are open. This includes all of the main pisted runs in resort and the links to Cervinia.

Skiing conditions are absolutely perfect at the moment with the recent fall of fresh snow giving superbly groomed pistes and powder off the sides. This is particularly true of the Italian side of the ski area with Cervinia experiencing a slightly heavier snowfall and people scrambling to make theirs the first tracks in the fresh powder.

The weather is set fair with the sunshine on Friday morning expected to continue with just the possibility of some light cloud gathering and perhaps the odd light flurry of snow in the late afternoon. This is forecast to clear again overnight to give an identical pattern for Saturday with sunshine and later some light cloud. The cloud is due to clear to give a bright and sunny Sunday.

The ever popular Hennu Stall band makes a welcome appearance at this week’s Rock and Roll Sunday.
