The latest snow report from our team in Zermatt

Thanks to the heavy snow fall over the past week there is 170cm of snow at the top of the Zermatt ski area and 95cm in the resort.

At the moment there are 86 out of 360m pistes open with more due to open soon.

It has been snowing a lot in Zermatt which has led to fantastic powder snow and great ski conditions on areas of the resort that are open. Improving visibility over the next few days combined with an improvement in the weather should lead to fantastic ski conditions through to Friday night, where we will see the return of the snow over the weekend. Conditions suitable for skiers of all levels of experience, with a good snow base from resort up to the top of the mountain.

The weather forecast for the next 3 days is predicting gradually increasing in temperature from -14 to -8 by Friday morning. with improved visibility and clear weather on Wednesday leading to heavy snowfall on Friday (14/12/2012).

As more seasonnaires and guests arrive in resort, Zermatt has regained its winter spirit, with Chalets, bars and restaurants filling up alike. Be sure to check out local bars such as Brown Cow and Potters Bar as opening season parties set the tone for the oncoming season.
