Zermatt Snow Report, 07 Dec 2010

ZermattThere’s a whopping 173cm at the top of the Klein Matterhorn Paradise and 10cm at village level.

Conditions here in Zermatt are brilliant. Early on in the week there was a solid snow fall and cold conditions which meant the snow compacted nicely. As the week has progressed the sun has been out but the weather still cold enough to preserve the fantastic snow. The pistes are still lovely and quiet and with the season not yet officially started, next week would be a fantastic time to come and sample some of the great high altitude skiing with the pistes almost to yourself.

Snow showers are expected throughout Wednesday and into Thursday morning. As the week progresses the skies will clear and the sun will be out, but don’t be fooled! The temperatures will still be very cold, which will preserve the snow well but do wrap up warm!

As the start of the season draws near the après-ski is starting to liven up! With many of the bars opening there are plenty of opening nights this week. This evening (Wednesday) Sparkys bar is having its start of season party where the owner, Sparky, will be buying everybody a drink!

Here in Zermatt they have a local newsletter containing all the news and gossip called ‘The Horn’. It’s celebrating its 5 year anniversary this Thursday and to celebrate this occasion one of the bars called ‘The Bubble’ is holding a party with drinks promotions, music and a raffle.

We will also be holding out first Pub Quiz of the season this Friday in Nellys bar. We have teams being entered from across the Ski Total staff, ski instructors and some of the locals. All in all it should be an excellent way to start the season.
