Val Thorens Snow Report, 25 Mar 2011

Val ThorensThe skiing in Val Thorens is still great, being the highest resort in the Alps the spring snow doesn’t start to form until late into the afternoon giving skiers many hours of pleasure.

Today we played around on the slopes of Orelle and the Col and I have to say I was impressed with the conditions for this time of year. With a lot of the runs completely empty we found some great places to cruise in fabulous sunshine.

Above 2000m the snow is fluffy and there’s still plenty of it. I’m happy to report that all runs and lifts are open in Val Thorens and lift queues are minimal.

With the late afternoon sun, the aprés ski is fantastic, soaking up some rays with a cold drink in a deck chair after a getting the best from the mountain earlier. What better way to spend late afternoons; just remember to pack your sun cream.
