Val Thorens snow report 25.01.2013

Here is the latest snow report from our team in Val Thorens.

The snow at the top of the Val Thorens ski area is 235cm and 125cm in resort. The last snow fall was on Tuesday with 5cm coming down.

There are 78 of the 80 Val Thorens runs open with all 30 lifts open.

After our last snowfall on Tuesday, Val Thorens has finally experienced a few days of stunning sunshine across the resort. We were lucky enough to still ski some fantastic off piste runs today from the top of the Peclet lift and it was evident from the buzz as we skied past, that VT’s famous après ski joints, the Folie Douce and Bar 360, have been receiving a lot of love in the sun. Whilst over two metres of quality snow still rests in Val Thorens, be wary heading down into Saint Martin where the runs are beginning to grow icy towards the bottom.  Friday and Saturday promises to bring even more sunshine and cloudless skies, however temperatures will remain cold reaching a maximum of -7 and dropping to -20 late afternoon. Warmer weather is predicted for Saturday with a mixture of cloud and sunshine and a minimum of -8 degrees. Families can enjoy a fun filled day on Friday at Place de Caron where activities will be staged for children with free hot chocolate and brioche for all to enjoy.
