Val Thorens Snow Report 20 Mar 2012

Val Thorens, FranceA dump of 10cm yesterday has refreshed the slopes and the upper runs have a base of 230cm whilst the lower runs to resort have 150cm.

The recent snowfall has meant that runs are freshly coated and the more heavily trafficked areas in VT have been given a coat of fresh white snow, making the resort seem much prettier.

Skiing conditions on the upper runs are much improved, and fresh powder can be easily found.  The lower pistes remain fairly hard and fast, good for speed skiing, with no slush to be seen. All the runs in the resort are open, giving fantastic skiing conditions for the week ahead, especially considering the time of year.

Generally clear with occasional clouds, temperatures getting gradually warmer but staying just below freezing throughout the week.

Festi Val Tho, the Electronic Music Festival, begins next week, running from 27th to 29th March.  This dance music festival has been running since 2008, and brings an excellent line up of DJ’s and concerts on the slopes of Val Thorens. The parties continue all the way through to the night.
