Val Thorens Snow Report, 16 Mar 2010

Snow Boarders in Val ThorensSnow depths are good with 120cm in resort at 2300m and 180cm up on the Glacier du Bourchet at 3200m. All 68 runs and 28 lifts in the Val Thorens area are open.

A light dusting of powder has covered the pistes around the Val Thorens area. The weather is good today with clear skies and warmer temperatures, and it is due to stay sunny for the entire week! There is a possibility of some snow Friday night and through Saturday. Sunny runs like Peyron and Bouchet in Orelle are in great shape, and it is also worth going down to Saint Martin for the lovely long rolling runs like Jerusalem. If you like to explore off piste then try the hidden valley in Orelle, coming off the back of Col, and for those new to off piste I highly recommend heading down to Les Menuires where there’s lots of great rolling hills of the sides of the pistes. As always a guide is strongly recommended for any unfamiliar off piste runs

The forecast is to remain mostly dry. Temperatures are going to be on and below freezing, max 0°C (Thurs morning) to min -11°C (Tue night) so wrap up warm when going out at night! But generally winds are light.

Festi-Val Tho has hit us this week with a huge selection of world renowned DJs featuring at Bar 360 in the evenings. We have the ‘Waxx’ snowpark competitions on Friday and the usually adrenaline pumping activities, like night time toboggan runs and mountain biking on snow.
