Val Thorens snow report 08/02/2013

Here is the latest snow report from our team in Val Thorens

There is 350cm at the top of the Val Thorens ski area with 200cm in resort. There was a massive 40cm of snowfall yesterday.

All 80 of the ski runs are open here in Val Thorens with 28 of the 30 ski lifts also open.

And now the latest from our rep Penelope Moore

My last blog described with incredulity how more than 3 metres of snow found its way to the top of VT for the first time this season. Since then, my incredulity has turned into sheer disbelief as another half a metre of fresh snow tumbled vigorously into resort. Visibility of the piste has been difficult however, given this is the some of the best skiing any of us have experienced all season, it seems a fair compromise. In these conditions, I would suggest avoiding any flat pistes as poling is hugely exacerbated by the new snow. The forecast for Friday promises to bring an end to the cloudy weather however Saturday is predicted to be very snowy with Sunday brightening up again. Ensure to wrap up warm as temperatures will be reaching a frosty average of -17. To end the week, a family fun day is held in Place de Caron from 5pm with activities for the young ones and free hot chocolate for all the onlookers and patient parents.
