Val Thorens Snow Report 05/03/2013

Here is the latest snow report from our team in Val Thorens

There is 330cm of snow at the top of the Val Thorens ski area with 155cm of snow in resort. The last snowfall was on  24th Feb with around 5cm falling.

There are 150km of pistes open in the Val Thorens ski area with 32 out of 32 ski lifts open.

Our weather sources tell us that a cheeky bout of snow is going to arrive this afternoon with more predicted tomorrow and Thursday. With a week of pure sunshine and the slopes beginning to turn slushy, this is a welcome prediction. Temperatures will remain mild at a maximum of -5 degrees however there will be a very strong -11 wind chill over the next few days therefore I would recommend avoiding the higher peaks of Val Thorens, such as the Cime Caron. Throughout the week starting at 5pm each day, a carnival parade is making its way through the town, boasting an impressive array of theatrical costumes, music and general frivolity. Additionally, the ‘all mountain mini’ tour is still alive in VT this week. If you love this classic car, you have the unique opportunity to drive it on the road or over the ice circuit. It’s free, too!
