Val Thorens Snow Report 02/04/2013

Here is the latest snow report from our team in Val Thorens

There is 365 cm of snow at the top of the Val Thorens ski area with 165 cm of snow in resort. The last snowfall was on  31st March with around 10cm falling.

There are 100% of pistes open in the Val Thorens ski area with 100% ski lifts open.

So what did I do on April the first (apart from celebrating the resurrection of Jesus)? I skied a whole lot of fresh, unadulterated POWDER. Already into the heart of Spring and yet the snow quality has barely lessened since January what with 365cm still packed at the top of resort.

It looks like we are in for a fantastic close to the season with the forecast predicting a perfect balance of sunshine and snow over the next week. Tuesday and Wednesday are set to be clear with bouts of cloud in the afternoon and sources tell us that Thursday promises a thin blanket of snow in the evening of 7 cm. Don’t expect to bring out the t-shirts just yet as temperatures are still hovering on the wrong side of zero. Easter celebrations are far from over here in VT.

Kicking off every evening for the rest of the week is an Easter parade which will be making its way throughout the town from 5pm. For a roaring spectacle of dancers, dress ups, music and frivolity, come on down to the main square!
