Val d’Isere Snow Report 26/02/2013

Here is the latest snow report from our team in Val d’Isere

There is 280cm of snow at the top of the Val d’Isere ski area with 136cm of snow in resort. The last snowfall was on Sunday with around 2cm falling.

All 146km of pistes are open in Val d’Isere with 49 of the 50 ski lifts also open

The snow has indeed arrived once more, although the sun is trying desperately hard to fight its way through the clouds – casting some beautiful afternoon light displays over the mountains in the late afternoons as the skies clear slightly and shadowy silhouettes swallow up the resort before nightfall. At the end of a long day on the slopes, dropping off the side of the Manchet Valley into Clochetons is the perfect spot to savour the last rays of light before they disappear behind the snowy peaks over a heartwarming vin chaud. Walking back over the piste as the stars begin to come out, one is presented with breathtaking views down the valley over the rest of Val Village – all the buildings starting to light up as the night begins. The forecast for the next few days projects nothing but cloud and snow, but looking out of my window at the moment suggests otherwise… Here’s hoping for nightly snow showers followed by sunny days!
