Val d’Isere snow report 25.01.2013

Here is the latest snow report from our team in Val d’Isere

There is 275cm of snow at the top of the Val d’Isere ski area with 128cm of snow in resort. The last snowfall was on Tuesday with a light dusting of snow falling.

94% of the runs are open with 45 of the 46 Val d’Isere ski lifts open.

Although heavy snow had been forecast for last weekend, we were pleasantly surprised to see mostly blue skies over Val d’Isere  interspersed with some lighter snow showers at the beginning of the week. Temperatures have been far milder than last week, making venturing up to the more exposed glacial areas of the mountain less of an endurance test for those more sensitive to a higher wind chill factor.

Good visibility could be found at most heights, despite the snow falling throughout the day on Monday, leaving freshly groomed pistes with a fantastic layer of soft powder. The rest of the week has remained beautifully clear, allowing for a very enjoyable final day of social skiing with guests all the way to Tignes les Brevieres and back again.

We really couldn’t be asking for more – the last few days of this week are set to remain sun-sational, with another snowfall expected on Sunday, just in time for the arrival of next week’s guests. Ruddy ma marvelous
Weather forecast for the next 3 days  is sunshine, low temperatures, light breeze.
