Val d Isere Snow Report, 22 Mar 2011

Val d'IsèreSnow depth at the top of the ski area: 144cm of snow on the upper slopes

Snow depth in resort:  60cm

It’s another sunny day here in Val and I am loving it! There may not be too much snow lying around resort but up on the pistes there is vast amounts of snow all groomed and waiting for you to shred!

The guests yesterday were telling me how amazing the snow conditions were yesterday and I have to agree, coupled with yesterday’s beautiful blue skies (and the fact I’ve ditched the thermals), I had an absolutely amazing day on the pistes. I made my way over to the Grande Motte Glacier over in Tignes and I managed to get straight on the cable car that goes right to the peak, which has been a rarity of late due to peak season, but my word was the view spectacular with blue skies allowing me to peer over the Tarentaise valley, and enough snow to afford me a few little off piste excursions!

Weather forecast for next 3 days – bright bluebird days… and mother nature is throwing in a few more just for good measure! And of course now that the sun is here I’m finding myself basking in the sun at lunch time for even longer… although if you are out, remember to slap on some suncream!

With the deconstruction of the X-games park and temporary buildings, I’m mourning the loss of something that was over to fast but has left a lasting impression! I would definitely recommend a trip to next years x-games! But with that excitement over I’m looking forward to next weeks Valley Rally! The teams have been picked and I’m raring to go!!
