Val d Isere Snow Report, 19 Mar 2010
The sun is still shining for us and the snow on the piste is still in good condition so perfect ski conditions for us all. Yesterday was much warmer than it has been for the rest of the week, reaching 3⁰C at the top of Tignes Glacier but the temperature will stay low enough to keep the snow on the slopes. The blue runs back into resort are a little icy but still ski-able and Piste M is in brilliant condition to cruise back into the centre of Val d’Isere.
Snow depths are still fantastic for March with 186cm on the glacier and 119cm in resort. All 48 lifts in Val d’Isère are running and 96% of the runs in the Espace Killy are open.
We’re expecting brilliant sunshine today and snow showers over the weekend which will hopefully put a fresh dusting over the mountain. Temperatures of around -3⁰C are forecast so skiing will be enjoyable even at the top of the mountain.
The Gourmandes Cookery Festival this week has been very popular and many people gathered to see the Chefs’ Parade last night. The park has also been very popular this week while the sun has been shining – lots of people keen to practice their 360s!
