Val d’Isere snow report 11.01.2013

Here is the latest snow report from our team in Val d’Isere.

There is 245cm of snow at the top of the VDI ski area with 118cm in resort. The last snowfall was on the 10th January.

96% of the runs are open here in VDI with 45 of the 46 open too.

The forecast for the next three days is sunshine interspersed with snowy showers.

The beautiful weather over the past few days has allowed those new to the resort to discover ever further afield and experience the most hidden corners of the expanse of mountainside between Le Fornet in Val and Tignes le Brevieres. Pistes have stayed remarkably mogul free right until the very end of the day, making swooping down more challenging runs even more exhilarating than usual. “Fontaine Froid” is one such example – bathed in sun for most of the day and with its brand new high-speed lift, this run is proving a firm favourite amongst seasonnaires.

In Val d’Isere, we’re all uber excited for the arrival of the Ice Polo Masters. Running from 16-19th January, the best international players and their steeds will clash on ice in Val, proving their worth at this highly exciting winter sport. Five minutes from the village centre, at the bottom of the world famous piste “le Face”, with free aperitifs and live music entertainment, this most certainly is an event not to be missed.
