Val d Isere Snow Report, 05 Mar 2010

Chalet Jade, Val d'IsèreA superb snow base of 201cm at the top of the Pissaillas glacier and 130cm on the lower Espcace Killy runs means Val d’Isère is the place to ski!

The snowfall yesterday and today has put a good base on the slopes – still some tricky patches on some of runs back into resort but still excellent ski conditions.

Temperatures have dropped slightly this week with a cold wind chill too but hopefully still warm enough to keep the powder we’re all here for. Almost all the runs are open now that the Avalanche risk is lower and the slopes are in perfect conditions. Off-pisting will be brilliant for those with experience but care needs to be taken!

The weather forecast is for a full day of sunshine today; it’s snowing at the moment but hopefully the sun will come out later. We’re expecting sunshine on Saturday morning followed by snow showers in the afternoon and all day Sunday. The ski conditions will be brilliant with fresh powder on all pistes.

Everyone is still hyped up over The Winter Olympics but the buzz at the moment is over the winter X Games which are coming to Tignes next week. Tonight is the floodlit dual slalom race so any confident skiers can join in the competition.
