Tignes snow report 18.12.2012
Here is the latest snow report from our team in Tignes
The upper pistes in Tignes have 195cm of snow with 100cm down in resort. The last snow was on Sunday when 15cm fell and over the next 9 days we are expecting 29cm.
There are 20 of the 58 lifts open here and the piste quality is excellent.
Everyone is extremely overwhelmed at the moment by the immense quantities of snow we have here in Tignes. This is the first week where every one of our chalets is full and all the guests have been very impressed with this fantastic snow fall so early on in the season. Pistes around the Tignes bowl at the moment are in excellent condition. Fresh, thick, powdery snow has covered this little village from top to bottom and as we looked out of the window last night over dinner it was easy to be blown away by the view of the 5 finger gullies which is spectacularly lit up every night in Tignes and at the moment beautifully decorated with a snowy layer.
The bars are slowly filling up as we approach high season and Christmas week. Soon there will be ice skating on the frozen lake and plenty of husky rides to be had around the hamlet of Les Chartreux. The atmosphere in Tignes is always cheerful and fun. The residences of this little alpine town are happy to be here and so are we!
