Tignes Snow Report 17/01/2016

It is currently snowing here in Tignes and hasn’t stopped for at least the past 24 hours. There is mixed visibility across the resort especially at the top and towards the Glacier. If you head down towards Les Boisses and Les Brevieres through the trees then visibility is a lot better. Despite the snow the majority of lifts are open and there is still plenty of skiing to do on Piste. The Pisteurs are working constantly the maintain the excellent conditions across the entire resort. Avalanches have been minimised thanks to the expert knowledge of the people monitoring the pistes.

Forecast: Throughout the next week we are looking forward to more snow with intervals of sunshine, especially midweek when visibility and conditions are expected to be at its best. Despite the drop in temperature the wind speed is a lot lower than previous weeks. The wind speed at the base is only about 18km/h and at the summit 42km/h. Due to this drop we can expect the lifts to stay open and we can hopefully look forward to the Glacier opening. Maximum temperatures of -3 and Minimum temperatures of -23, the perfect excuse to experience some of the mountain restaurants between skiing.
