Tignes Snow Report, 07 Jan 2011

Chalet Anne Marie, TignesSnow – top of ski area:   122cm

Snow depth in resort:   43cm

The conditions this week are only set to get better with the snow fall that is predicted. Up at the top, close to the Toviere restaurant, the runs should be in near perfect condition.

One run in particular is the Orange which is many skiers are yet to discover because up until recently it had been closed for race training, which means it has been well maintained. This week is has also seen plenty of days made better by blue skies.

The little top up last night has given the piste bashers something to work with and means those keen skiers who got up for first tracks were rewarded. Temperatures are comparatively mild for January which makes the days skiing more enjoyable.

A couple more centimetres of snow to keep the pistes fresh is forecast for Saturday, other than that the outlook is very good for the next couple of days, just a few clouds, but nothing that spoil the fantastic views and slopes

Val Park, home to some of the best freestyle skiers in the Tarentaise region continues to entertain participants and passersby. In addition Espace Killy has several air bags giving amateurs an opportunity to try some big tricks. The market on Rue de la Crouze every Thursday gives everyone a chance to enjoy some French culture and food in a lively environment.
