Tignes Snow Report, 04 Jan 2011

Tignes, FranceSnow – top of ski area:   122cm

Snow depth in resort:   44cm

Excellent conditions in Tignes to bring in the New Year. After having some beautiful sunny days last week, the slopes have been really well pisted making wonderful runs for everyone yesterday. The L’Aiguille Percee was popular with photographers yesterday being able to get beautiful shots of the Espace Killy area, then ski-ing on down the ‘Auguille Percee’ off-piste run which was a favourite in resort yesterday. Many skiers headed to Les Brevieres yesterday, skiing the ‘Vallon de la Sache’ right into Les Brevieres and enjoying the tree line ski-ing that Les Brevieres has to offer. The snow parks yesterday were full with people being able to get some sunshine air time. The ‘Val Park’ was particularly good yesterday with people trying out some new tricks and then skiing over to the ‘Rocher de Bellevarde’ and taking on the Olympic run for the sunset!

Snowfall due this afternoon and tonight. Clear skies due for Wednesday and snow on Wednesday night. With more snow due on Thursday and Friday.
Lots of events continuing on into the New Year in Tignes. Today we have the ‘Slalom parallele de Sumos’ at 14.30 which is the slalom public race held in the Gliss park in Tignes le Lac. Also tonight there is a chance to attend an introductory A.R.V.A session with the Off Piste team at ESF team in Tignes le Lac, a great chance for off pisters to get to grips with the AVR micro controllers that are used for off pisting.

On Wednesday at 9.30 there is a great opportunity to get some slalom practise in with a free times slalom with the ESF. This is at the Lognan stadium, Tignes Val Claret.
