St Anton Snow Report, 24 Mar 2010

Chalet Elfie, St AntonThere is 230cm of snow at the top of the Velluga and 55cm in resort.

The lack of snowfall over the last week has lead to warm sunny weather and in the afternoon the snow can become slushy especially at the bottom of the mountain.

Fantastic skiing can be found all over the St Anton and the Arlberg region especially in the higher areas of the mountain. Perhaps some of the best snow and conditions can be found on the Rend Mountain where there are excellent pisted runs. The Rend Mountain also receives the morning sun so it is a great place to go for first lifts because the snow may become slushy later in the day.

Perhaps in the afternoon consider the Schindlergratbahn. This lift takes you very high where some of the best snow can be found.  Once at the top there is a great piste running all the way down into Stuben. This is a firm favourite as it consists of great piste and fun off piste.

Blue skies with the occasional cloud can be expected for the next few of days in St Anton. This is due to be followed by light rain showers on Friday. The bright sun should create great skiing conditions.

The Arlberg area always has something for everybody. One Thursday the 25th March there is “a sustainable evening…for all your senses” being held in Hotel Goldener Berg in Oberlech. There will be products from local farmers and meals where you can taste every ingredient. Norbert Niederkoffer (2 Michelin stars) will be preparing a stunning menu.

Throughout the rest of the week there are always the Mooserwirt and Krazy Kangaruh après ski bars offering great entertainment. Llve music can be found at the Underground on the piste and Picadillys where cover artists will be playing all time classic songs.
