St Anton Snow Report, 21 Jan 2011
Snow at the top of ski area: 205cm at Vallluga (2811m)
Snow depth in resort: 40cm at Base (1304m)
Snowing today and 5cm yesterday!
Skiing in this area is brilliant; we have had fresh snow every day for the last three days. Light snow is still falling in some areas at the moment and visibility is very good. It’s a great time to enjoy some of the longer runs with the Alberg area.
Our featured run commences at the top of Valluga 1 in St Anton and concludes in the neighbouring town of Lech (Red 19, followed by Red 14, then follow signs to free Bus no. 3 for Lech and Zurs).
To make it a round trip, take one of numerous routes from Lech to Zurs (starting with the Rufikopf lift) before getting the bus back to Alpe Rauz. This will provide a great day’s skiing with plenty of opportunity to practice on and off piste skiing!
A large amount of snow has fallen in the past few days, and it is forecast to be largely clear for the weekend with some fresh snow expected on Sunday night. The predicted temperatures; lows of -24 and highs of -9.
Interski 2011 was a big hit last night, with competitors from many countries putting on a great show for all the crowd to enjoy. In my opinion some of the most spectacular events were performed by Norway and Switzerland.
