St Anton Snow Report 12/02/2013

Here is the latest snow report from our team in St Anton.

There is 270cm of snow at the top of the St Anton ski area with 85cm in resort. It is currently snowing at the top of the ski area with a few cm set to fall.

119 of the 121 ski runs are open in St Anton with 78 of the 79 ski lifts open as well.

A low-pressure area will pass by the south of the Alps, subsequently the southerly foehn wind will withdraw on Tuesday. Patches of thick clouds will determine the skies and some snow flakes cannot be excluded on Tuesday afternoon. Also on Wednesday thick clouds and few snow flakes cannot be excluded. A brief period of improved conditions will approach, which will bring long sunny spells on Thursday. On Friday, however, more unsettled conditions are expected once more. A weak cold front will bring slight snow showers. Variable conditions with clouds, scattered snow showers and few sunny spells are forecast for the weekend.

St. Anton am Arlberg is reporting “Fresh snowfall” with 6cm new snow forecast in the next 48 hours. We have had lots of sunshine in the past couple of days, however the temperature will be dropping on a daily basis until Friday when it will reach a steady ‘minus 8’ with a healthy serving of snow on a daily basis & some sunshine breaking through during most days of the week ensuring excellent carving conditions with a decent level of visibility. Who could ask for more?

Nostalgic Ski race of the ski club Arlberg 15.02.2013. 5:30pm Start numbers distributed at the Zielstadion

6:30pm Race commences in the Bottom Station Kindlisfeldlift (at the Zielstadion) After the race: Prize ceremony at the Griesplatz. The race commences at the Bottom Station Kindlisfeldlift, Lämmerweg, pedestrian zone to the Griesplatz. Each participant presents his/her outfit and equipment to the jury, featuring nostalgic ski clothing and equipment, lace up boots, wooden skis and stocks, everything as old fashioned as possible.Entry fee will be 10 euros including a fortifying snack and drink at the prize ceremony.The winner is not the racer with the fastest time. Rather points are given for equipment and clothing (judged by the jury during the fashion show). Participants with race times closest to the average time receive additional points.
