St Anton snow report 08/02/2013

Here is the latest snow report from our team in St Anton

There is 285cm at the top of the St Anton ski area with 85cm in resort. There was 10cm of snowfall yesterday and 10cm the day before as well.

There are 244km of pistes open in the St Anton ski area with 75 of the 79 skin lifts open also.

A cold and moderately humid north-westerly current will determine the weather into tomorrow Saturday. Mostly thick clouds will bring few slight snow showers. Mostly dry conditions are forecast. Saturday will bring a brief period of improved weather conditions. The air will be temporarily dry, a slight south-westerly wind with foehny spells will approach. Bright sunshine is forecast for some hours. Starting next week, the next low-pressure area over Northern Italy will reach us. Strong clouds will approach from the south and result in snowfalls.

St. Anton am Arlberg is reporting “Fresh snowfall” with 6cm new snow forecast in the next 48 hours. We have experienced minus temperatures at resort level however this is set to get warmer during this week to around -2′C with 4 centimeters of snow due today with a further 2 centimeters due tomorrow. Blue skies & sun are expected Sunday & Monday so this should create perfect conditions for skiing not only from visibility but also temperature, taking full advantage of last weeks heavy snow fall. Who could ask for more?

A journey through ski history, „Driving Snow“ 13.02.2013!

Together with the Ski School Arlberg, St. Anton am Arlberg Tourist Board will be hosting the spectacular „Schneetreiben – Driving Snow“ Ski Show at the World Cup Stadium. Fascinating driving skills and the historical developments of skiing can be seen both live on the piste and on the big screen. The journey through ski history begins at 21 hrs and admission to this outdoor event is free. Guests also have the opportunity to enjoy “Schneetreiben” with an evening meal and drinks in the warm, glazed lounge at Transport to and from the event has also been taken care of with special buses shuttling in the evenings between St. Anton am Arlberg, Flirsch, Schnann, Pettneu and St. Christoph. The „Schneetreiben – Driving Snow“ Ski Show takes places every Wednesday from the 16th January onwoards at the finishing area of the World Cup Stadium in Arlberg and includes a firework display.
