Solden Snow Report 22/03/2013

Here is the latest snow report from our team in Solden

There is 276cm of snow at the top of the Solden ski area with 10cm of snow in resort. The last snowfall was on  today with around 1cm falling.

There are 100% of pistes open in the Solden ski area with 88% ski lifts open.

The clouds are meant to be closing in on the bright blue skies of this morning to bring snow showers later this afternoon and overnight. This is to become more constant by tomorrow and light snow is forecast to fall all day and throughout the rest of the weekend – this is to be heaviest on Sunday night into Monday morning, bringing around 6cm of snow. Temperatures are still staying quite mild, with lows of only minus 2 and minus 3 at mid station, which means the snow up on the ski area will be more like rain down at resort level. The wind will generally be light.

The best pistes are at the top of the ski area on the glacier – with powder and good quality snow due to its altitude. However, it’s only really the lower home runs that are getting a little slushy and mogully towards the end of the day – so there’s no shame in downloading in the gondola if your legs are tired!! The forecast snow has been very unpredictable so there have only been little dustings here and there to top up the slopes. The spring sun is strong which is pleasant – just remember your sunblock!!

Today at the Giggijoch Fun-Zone, from 1pm – 4:30pm, rock Cover band Supermaex are taking to the stage to  get the Crowds rocking out – a bit of a change from the electro-house Of last week!! So let your hair down and drop by for a Drink or two!

Tomorrow is the return of the annual ‘Almdudler Freestyle Feast’ in the Solden Snow Park!! With DJs and MCs, trick sessions, film and photo shootings, as well as the ‘Next Almdudler Jodel Hero’ competition, there is lots going on! And Anyone can take part or watch! So if that’s your scene, it’s All going down in the snowpark – with the added bonus Of the ‘Chill & Grill’ i.e. BBQ and copious amounts of Almdudler (Austrian soft drink) !!
