Solden Snow Report 19/02/2017

Good conditions on slopes. Busier then usual due to half term school holiday but still not as busy as in France 🙂 Had about 8-20 cm of new snow on Friday and more due this Tuesday and hopefully big storm on the way at the end of the week.

The high-pressure area forecast for the weekend, will withdraw to the Atlantic starting next week. The Alps will get on the edge of a partly strong west- to north-westerly air stream, in which extensions of unsettled conditions will be repeatedly embedded. The first weak extensions of unsettled conditions will cross our regions already on Sunday night. Monday promises rather friendly weather conditions with a mix of sunshine and clouds. On Tuesday, a rather strong front will settle over the north side of the Alps. Mostly thick clouds will result in some precipitation. The snow line will be located between 1500 and 1900 m. On Wednesday and on Thursday, rather dry conditions will settle in, though the weather development will remain rather windy and slightly changeable. A strong cold front is forecast for Friday.
