Solden Snow Report 08/03/2013

Here is the latest snow report from our team in Solden

There is 243cm of snow at the top of the Solden ski area with 30cm of snow in resort. The last snowfall was on  4th March with around 3cm falling.

There are 100% of pistes open in the Solden ski area with 31 out of 35 ski lifts open.

Enjoy the sun while you can, as the clouds are forecast to close in this afternoon – bringing around 3cm of snow overnight! The light snow is set to continue throughout Saturday and Sunday, with it being heaviest overnight on Sunday – with 9cm forecast to fall at mid-station. It will brighten up on Monday, but the clouds will still be lingering into Tuesday, bringing the occasional snow shower. Temperatures are to stay relatively mild with highs of minus 6 on the glacier, and plus 5 in town!

The cloud has cleared and the visibility is second to none this morning, with bright blue skies. The wind has dropped too, giving the glacier no excuse to close and making sun terraces ideal sun traps – just remember the sun cream! The milder temperatures and bright sunshine have warmed up the snow on the lower slopes, making it quite sticky – especially by the afternoon! Head to the glacier for the best snow quality – despite the sunshine, the snow stays in good condition!

This Friday afternoon from 1pm until 4:30pm at the top of the Giggijoch gondola, soul/funk cover band Beatstreet will be entertaining the crowds – so head up there for a boogie in the sunshine!

If that’s got you in the mood, then carry on the party at Snowrock Café with their weekly Karaoke night from 9pm! Sing-a-long to all your favourite tunes!

On Monday at Phillip’s, Marcus Becker, is BACK!! So warm up your vocal chords for the infamous ‘Heli-heli-heli-helicopter’ apres-ski hit. Last time he was rocking the 90s double denim look and was really getting the apres-ski party started – so don’t miss out!
