Solden snow report 08.01.2013

Here is the latest snow report from our team in Solden.

There is 201cm of snow at the top of the Solden ski area and 10cm of snow down in resort. The last snowfall saw 7cm fall on the 3rd January.

36 of the 37 runs are open and are being served by 29 of the 33 lifts here in Solden.

The sunny and blue skies are set to continue into tomorrow, but temperatures will be a couple of degrees lower than they have been the past couple of days with highs of minus 8 degrees tomorrow afternoon. The clouds are starting to appear this morning and will be closing in by tomorrow afternoon – preparing for some light snow on Thursday morning.  The snow will be heaviest overnight into Friday with 6cm of snow forecast to fall at mid-station. The light snow will continue into Friday and temperatures will be falling to below minus 10 degrees Celsius – so it will feel vastly different from the beginning of the week!

The sunshine is making it feel like spring skiing and we’re still in January!! The temperatures are very pleasant so you don’t need your winter woollies – instead pack your sunglasses! Snow is in best condition on the glacier due to its higher slopes, as lower down the snow is quite hard packed with some icy patches beginning to show.  The few clouds forming in the skies are signs that it’s changing with some fresh snow on its way later in the week!

The Maxxx Mountain Night Ski Show is happening tomorrow at the mid station of the Gaislachkogl gondola and Austrian soul – funk band Beatstreet taking to the stage and entertaining the crowds. You can ski from 5:30pm until 9:30pm on floodlit piste number 10. If live music is what you’re after then Snowrock bar has live music Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday with singing barmaids, karaoke and open mic nights. LIVE, formerly known as Hunter’s Inn – just along the road from

Snowrock, has jam sessions and live bands Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
