Solden Snow Report 05/03/2013

Here is the latest snow report from our team in Solden

There is 244cm of snow at the top of the Solden ski area with 45cm of snow in resort. The last snowfall was on  yesterday with around 4cm falling.

There are 100% of pistes open in the Solden ski area with 31 out of 35 ski lifts open.

The scorching hot sunshine for the past few days is to come to an end tomorrow, with the clouds closing in this evening and lingering for the next few days. A dusting of snow is forecast, with it heaviest on Thursday afternoon and overnight, though only 2cm is predicted to fall. The wind is quite blustery, bringing a cool breeze, but this will ease off into Thursday. Temperatures are staying very mild, with lows of only minus 8 on the glacier and highs of around 6 in town on Thursday – making the ‘snow’ more likely to be sleety rain.

It’s hot out there, with the sun making it feel 10 degrees warmer! So visibility is fantastic, with not cloud in the sky!! The bright sunshine, has been perfect for leisurely coffee and lunch breaks, but has made the snow suffer a little, with it becoming quite hard packed up top and slushier down on the home runs. Head out early before the sun has had a chance to soften the snow!

If a bit of Tyroleon culture is what you’re after, then Tuesdays In Solden are where it’s at – with lots of places to choose from! Kicking off at 1pm at Loeple Alm at 1pm with live music and Also at Bubi’s Skihuette, with the 3 ‘Weinbeisser’. From 3pm, Head to Eugen’s Obstlerhuette where the Austrian atmosphere Continues. If that’s not enough, then the Giggitenne restaurant has special Tyroleon hut evenings on Tuesday, but remember to book!!

Wednesday means night skiing in Solden on red piste no. 10 from 5:30-pm until 9:30pm. As the penultimate Night Ski Show, there will be musical accompaniment by local trio The Alpentornados, who, this season have become regulars on the Stage!
