Saas Fee Snow Report, 30 Mar 2010

Skier on the sploes of Saas FeeConditions at Allalin are fantastic with just over 232cm of powder. The heavy snow storms over the last few days have left the pistes once again soft and fluffy and an absolutely fantastic to ride! The top of the mountain is thick with white powder all the way down to mid station!!

The lower slopes are in great condition too with 68cm of snow covering the nursery slopes. And again the heavy covering of snow throughout the last few days has made these slopes a joy to ski!

From Allalin all the way to mid station the slopes are thick with soft powder! The heavy snow storm of the last few days has left us with a huge amount of powder both on and off piste. The warm temperatures during the day make for T-shirt skiing and are great for topping up the tan!

At the mid stations around Morenia both on and off piste, there is loads of deep snow. With all the heaviest snow falling throughout the night the piste bashers are unable to maintain the pistes until early morning, meaning that on first lifts the pistes are as good as the off piste.

The entire mountain is a real pleasure to ride and the slopes from mid station are a great place to practice big sweeping turns at speed. The wide rolling red runs and twisting blues that lead down to resort are in great condition with the soft snow making you feel like you’re floating along the pistes. The heavy fall of snow has made piste riding feel like off piste. The snow park this week is in great condition with a lot of care being taken to ensure the jumps are just right and a few minor adjustments mean that you effortlessly fly over them.

With 145cm of hard powder at 2500m it is an amazing place to ski. Langfluh and Plattjen are covered in deep soft snow and throughout the day the mogul fields start to appear on the yellow run, this challenges even the best skiers and is great fun to ride.

In Saas Fee resort the rooftops have had a lovely top up of powder! The heavier snow showers further up the mountain have laid a beautiful soft powder layer both on and off piste, making the entire mountain a wonderful place to ski. The mild temperatures in the day make for lovely ski days from the top of the mountain to the bottom.

Heavy snow showers are forecast throughout Tuesday both day and night with a cold front coming in for the next 24 hours. Up to 22cm of snow fall higher up on the mountain.

10th and 11th April is the Style sessions weekender. A chance for skiers and boarders to ride with the world’s best in a huge jam format competition.
