Saas Fee Snow Report 22/02/2013
Here is the latest snow report from our team in Saas Fee
There is 268cm of snow at the top of the Saas Fee ski area with 79cm of snow in resort. The last snowfall was on Wednesday with 4cm of fresh snow falling.
98% of the runs are open in Saas Fee with all 21 lifts open.
A light snowfall predicted over Saturday and Sunday, heaviest on Sunday afternoon with 4cm due to fall. Wind is generally light however so ski conditions should remain pleasant. Come Monday afternoon the sun is due to appear although temperatures still below freezing between -11 and -13.
After a few overcast days and falling snow, the clear blue skies this morning look promising for a fantastic day on the slopes.
Temperatures are dropping with a max of -14 in the afternoon and min of -16 this morning around the mid-point at the Morenia chair lift. As you head up the Metro Alpin to the glacier, it will only get colder. Try taking a pitt stop at the Revolving restaurant or there self service restaurant for a hot chocolate and the incredible cheesecake before stepping out to see the breath taking views and excellent red runs which are currently in powder form.
The run down from the Plattjen bubble is a little icy in some areas so one to be careful on. Maybe a good idea to take the picturesque blue run through the trees as opposed to the black which may catch some people out.
For the 10th time running on March 2nd, Saas Fee will see the adrenaline pumping Glacier bike downhill race. Some just think that’s totally crazy, the others consider it THE event on two wheels!
