Saas Fee Snow Report, 09 Apr 2010

SkierConditions at Allalin are fantastic with just over 225cm of powder. The glorious sunshine this week has made for the most amazing skiing! T-shirt and jumper weather everyday, and with snow conditions still fantastic, it really has been a pleasure to ski in Saas Fee.

The lower slopes are in great condition too with 60cm of snow covering the nursery slopes. With temperatures reaching as high as 12 degrees on the lower slopes it doesn’t take much to top up you tan when skiing down low.

From Allalin all the way to mid station the slopes are packed with hard powder! The heavy snow storm last week left us with a huge amount of powder both on and off piste. Now with the heat and glorious sunshine skiing in Saas Fee is truly wonderful.

At the mid stations around Morenia again the sunshine beams down on us. The pistes are crisp first thing in the morning making it so easy to ride top to bottom. In the afternoon the slopes soften making for great carving skiing

The entire mountain is a joy and the slopes from mid station are a great place to practice big sweeping turns at speed. The wide rolling red runs and twisting blues that lead down to resort are in great condition with the soft snow making you feel like you’re floating along the pistes. The sunshine is so strong that it burns up any cloud cover in its way and ensures that the skies stay deep blue! The snow park this week is in fantastic condition with a lot of care being taken to ensure the jumps are just right! With the competition hotting up ready for tomorrows qualifying heats, the kickers have all been revamped to help the rider achieve maximum air time.

With 145cm of hard powder at 2500m it is an amazing place to ski. Langfluh and Plattjen great fun to ski, with the more technical runs and the mogul fields becoming playgrounds when the sun comes up. These technical yellow runs challenge even the best skiers and are great fun to ride.

The next few days should see clear blue skies and warm day time temperatures of up to 12 degrees with cloud moving in Sunday morning with possible light showers of snow.

10th and 11th April is the Style sessions weekender. A chance for skiers and boarders to ride with the world’s best in a huge jam format competition.

There will be action packed qualifying heats on the Saturday, then the finals on Sunday.

There is also an opportunity to test new equipment as sponsors of the event will be there to answer any questions you have on their products and let you try before you buy.

The competition has been stepped up massively over the last few days! With riders from all over Europe coming to compete, the standard of riding is immense! Tomorrow and Sunday will be fantastic days on the mountain!
