Obergurgl Snow Report 20 Mar 2012

Obergurgl, AustriaSnow depth in resort is 100cm and at the top of hte ski area it is 170cm.

Fresh snow since Sunday evening has transformed the resort! While yesterday’s constant snowfall made for very heavy skiing with flat light the freshly pisted runs today are incredible. The Obergurgl side of resort is now in excellent condition with the main runs all grippy and fresh; blue 6 is the best it’s been since early February with excellent covering across the entire run, Red 17 has some fantastic snow now and the area around it down to David’s Hut has a great base for the powder on top to have really livened up the off-piste skiing.

Over in Hochgurgl the snow base is particularly good on red 26 meaning that both the on, and off, piste skiing there is just about the best available at the moment, the trick being to stay high wherever you are.

Clear today with sun forecast for the next 3 days. Cold temperatures at night with lows of -10 should keep conditions excellent. More snow forecast later in the week.
