Obergurgl Snow Report, 09 March 2010

People in ObergurglThe snow depth has reached 156cm at the top of the mountain with 48cm on the local runs of the resort.

Another beautiful day dawns over the charming village of Hochgurgl and with it brings another brilliant day of skiing to this alpine paradise.

The fresh snow that fell over the weekend has led to soft, powdery conditions in the resort, which should be set to continue for the next few days.

Runs that are slightly more sheltered from the wind, such as red run 28, black run 32 and red run 25 promise to be fantastic for the week to come.

The sun is shining and the skies are blue throughout the Obergurgl and Hochgurgl ski area. This clear weather is expected to continue until tomorrow morning, when light snow is forecast to fall. Snow showers should continue until the weekend, when heavier snow is expected.

Temperatures today are well below freezing, with a low of minus 14 degrees Celcius forecast for this evening, however temperatures should become much milder over the coming days.

An experience that is not to be missed, for those who crave adventure, is toboganning in Hochgurgl! The toboggan follows run 25 from the midstation of the Hochgurglbahn to the bottom, spanning just over 3 kilometres from top to bottom. And if that’s not thrill seeking enough for you, you can always try night toboganning! Every Monday and Thursday evening from 7.30pm to 10.30pm you can night ski and toboggan down under the floodlights, definitely not one for the faint of heart!
