Meribel Snow Report, 16 Mar 2010

Chalet Le Cèdre Blanc, Méribel, FranceThere is some brilliant skiing to be found if you know where to look. The best snow is higher up but the 2cm of snow that fell yesterday improved the condition of all the pistes throughout Meribel.

The best conditions are to be found on north facing slopes such as Venturon, but others such as the Grand Duc are still in great condition providing lovely views over Meribel and beyond.

The best off piste is to be found on higher, “skied out” off piste areas where the snow is grips nicely and is soft, such as under the Cote Brune lift. There are also some lovely moguls around.

There is also some lovely spring snow but this is best found with a guide providing some fantastic off piste skiing.

The forecast is to be mostly dry and sunny with freeze-thaw conditions (max 1°C on Thursday morning, min -14°C on Monday night). Any winds will be generally light.

The Little World Festival is taking place this week organised by The Feeling. Members of The Feeling have been spotted across the road from the Hotel at the Rond Point the past two days and they stepped up to play a few songs there yesterday for Après. Sophie Ellis Bexter is also in town to perform for the festival and it seems you can’t be in Meribel without spotting someone famous. There are bands and DJ’s playing all week for the festival culminating with a free afternoon long concert on the piste at the Chaudanne on Friday with The Feeling headlining.
