Meribel Snow Report, 12 Mar 2010

Skier in MéribelThe upper slopes of Méribel have 127cm of snow base and on the lower slopes there is 89cm.

The slopes and the snow on the slopes are holding out fantastically. The snow at the top of Saulier is particularly good. I even heard one guest announce “this is the best snow I have ever skid on in March in 40 years”!

There are still patches of off powder off piste to be found as well. We are due more days of fantastic sunshine and bluebird skies. The temperatures will remain bellow freezing (which will keep the snow conditions good).  Then on Monday we are expected snowfall for the entire day. The wind throughout next week is forecast to remain gentle.

The Little World Festival starts next week (15-19 March) with music from major acts including The Feeling and Sophie Ellis Bextor, and over 40 gigs during the week including a free open air concert on the piste. Acts include The Feeling, Sophie Ellis Bextor, Fiction Plane, Ed Harcourt, Glen Tilbrook (Squeeze) and Graham Gouldman (10cc) will perform in venues including Méribel’s Auditorium and at a free open air concert outside the Rond Point. Tickets for any of the Little World events can be bought from your Rep on arrival in resort.

Each Thursday in March the Roc de Fer and Olympic chairlifts open early from 8am allowing you to make first tracks on the Face, Grand Duc and Gelinotte pistes. Then you can enjoy a hearty Savoy breakfast on the summit watching the sun rise over the Dent du Burgin and spectacular views of the Mont Blanc.
