Meribel snow report 08.01.2013
Here is the latest snow report from our team in Meribel
The snow depth at the top of the ski area at Meribel is 80cm and in resort there is 35cm on the home runs. It last snowed on 02/01/2013 with 2cm falling.
The ski conditions in Meribel are paralleled by none, as the slopes are primed for carving and the sun is beating down with blue bird’s everyday so far this week! The picturesque Mount Vallon glistening as it is kissed gently by the sun in the early morning, it is certainly a photo opportunity as well as a skiing delight. All runs in resort have been bashed to perfection so skiing for all abilities is excellent.
Sun cream this week is a must!
The weather over the next few days: Tuesday – Sunny skies all day (sun cream a must) with max temperatures of 1 degrees and a wind chill of -4 degrees. The clear skies will continue on into the evening so please wrap up warm if you are hitting the town.
Wednesday – Leading on from Tuesday, Wednesday will start the morning off with a prevailing sun, but that will be obscured by some cloud as we move into the afternoon and temperatures will drop dramatically to as low as -15 with wind chill. So please do not be fooled by the morning sun, take a big coat out with you!
Thursday – Thursday morning will start off with patchy clouds with lows of about -10 and then the heavens will open as we move into the afternoon with showers and smatterings of snow! This snow looks like it will continue into the evening and overnight.
С Новым Годом! For those of you who aren’t familiar with the Russian language, that means Happy New Year! Yes, that’s right, it has been Russian New Year in resort (because we didn’t have enough fun on the French and English New Years) but yet again Meribel outdid itself. There were fireworks, a torch-lit ESF procession down from Meribel Mottary to the Chaudanne, children shouting letting off party poppers and adults cheering each other with their Vin Chaud, and for those more adventurous, Jaeger Bombs! The clean up from the party was as ever swift and effective, not even a hint that there was any celebration on the slopes (apart from a few Russians looking a little worse for wear). This week has many great events to look forward to, from Ice Hockey matches at the Olympic centre, to the Nightlife Orientation evening tonight. Viva La Meribel!
