Les Gets snow report 25.01.2013

Here is the latest snow report from our team in Les Gets

Up at the top of the Les Gets ski area there is 200cm of snow and the temperatures are going to be -9. There is lots of snow down in resort at the moment, we have around 85cm and a temperature of -6 degrees. The last snow fall in resort was on the 22nd of January, so the snow is still nice and fresh on the mountains.

All of the 69 runs in resort are open today. 49 out of the 51 lifts in resort are open today the Mouille aux Chats is still closed and the Grand Cry drag lift is closed too, although this doesn’t affect access to any of the runs.

The air is quite moist at the moment, but it’s going to be clear for most of the day. Tomorrow there will be some light snow showers in the evening and there’ll be much more snow on Sunday. Temperatures will hit a low of -20 degrees and will reach heights of 0 degrees. It will feel much colder today though with wind chill getting as low as -22.

Conditions on the Les Gets slopes have been excellent all week. We’ve got plenty of fresh snow on the ground at the moment and there is more due this weekend. The pistes are still full of fresh, succulent powder and are excellent to ski at the moment. We’ve had a few moguls popping up around the bowl, which are always fun to navigate. If that’s not you’re thing though, there are plenty of pisted runs for you to explore. Mont Chery is still full of powder although the red run to the bottom can get a bit icy in places, but it’s well worth a visit to see the fantastic views of Mont Blanc and the Portes du Soleil from the top, so make sure you don’t forget your camera.

There’s always things going on around the Les Gets resort, we have the torch lit descent early on in the week and the Big Mountain Battle again on Wednesday. Colin and his staff at Irish run a tour of their in house brewery on Tuesday nights, which is always worth a visit. And for the children there’s face painting and other fun to be had up on the Grand Cry ski runs.
