Les Gets Snow Report 12/02/2013

Here is the latest snow report from our team in Les Gets

At the top of the Les Get ski are we currently have 260cm of fresh snow, with temperatures of -6degrees. Down in the village there is 125cm of fresh snow and the temperatures are around -4degrees. We’ve had so much snow over the past week, it’s barely stopped snowing. It snowed for a lot of the day yesterday and it is still snowing now.

68 out of the 69 runs in resort are currently open, with only Les Creux the black run from the top of Chamossier closed at the moment. There are 50 out of the 51 lifts in resort open today. Only the Mouille aux Chats down in the Les Gets bowl is closed. However opening times on the Mont Chery snow park lift have been altered.

Today we are expected light snow throughout the day, with slightly heavier snow showers this evening. Tomorrow and Thursday are going to be clear with only a few clouds coming through on Thursday. And the clear skies look like they’re going to continue into next week. Temperatures will be no higher then -2degrees this week, and will drop as low as -11degrees. Wind chill will feel no cooler than -17 over the next few days, with it being barely noticeable some days.

We’ve had so much snow in Les Gets over the past week, it has hardly stopped.  The relentless snow however means that the powder up on the mountains is amazingly fresh. Perfect conditions to get out and up on Mont Chery this morning, which will undoubtedly be empty, as usual. Over on the Chavannes side of resort the skiing has been excellent recently, with the snow being replenished everyday more or less, so even though it’s skied by guest and ski schools more frequently, the pistes aren’t suffering.

There’s plenty on in resort this week. We’ve got live music in Bush, Bigfoots and Indigo. Irish bar are running their usual tour of their brewery on Tuesday night. And Barbylone and Bar Bowling both have Mardi Gras parties tonight.
