Les Arcs Snow Report, 12 Mar 2010

Couple SkingThe snow depth is 210cm at 3300m at the Aiguille Rouge and the depth is 113cm at 2000m.

Visibility has been as good as it has been all season this week in Les Arcs with the sun shining almost constantly. Although temperatures at the start of the week were bitterly cold it has warmed up as the week has progressed. The snow at the higher reaches of the resort, especially the Aiguille Rouge, continues to remain naturally magnificent and the snow canons are working over time to ensure that, while it may not be natural, the snow at the lower reaches of the resort is following suit.

More clear days are forecast over the next few days, although there is a possibility of snow showers Saturday afternoon. The slightly warmer temperatures are also due to continue, although this is by no means sun bathing weather quite yet as temperatures will remain below freezing.

There has been a mini exodus from Les Arcs over the week as visitors and seasonaires alike have flocked to close by Tignes to witness the world famous X-Games. It truly has been a spectacle worthy of its name with some absolutley X-cellent skiing and boarding for everyone to enjoy. For those not venturing to watch the games it has meant the slopes have been the quietest they have been all season.
