Courchevel snow report 25.12.2012

Here is the latest snow report from our team in Courchevel

There is 170cm of snow at the top of the Courchevel ski area with 100cm on the lower pistes. There was a recent snowfall of 15cm.

There are 51 of the 62 lifts open.

Do we know it’s Christmas? In a word, yes. More snow than you could shake a departure lounge full of toblerone at, enough Santas to empty Lincolnshire of carrots and a sun-drenched valley brimming with festive mirth and joy. Hohoho. What better way to expunge the sins and intoxication of Christmas Eve than with a blast of fresh mountain air on Christmas morning, surrounded by friends (not quite family for us seasonnaires, but we’re getting there).

Today’s sprinkling of liquid silk (6cm this evening) would send the UK into festive rapture, not to mention logistical carnage, but here in Courchevel this is just the tip of an immensely pleasurable snowy iceberg, a strong foundation for a long and snow-sure season – what a gift that is. Merry Christmas, Everyone.
