Courchevel Snow Report 19/03/2013
Here is the latest snow report from our team in Courchevel
There is 245cm of snow at the top of the Courchevel ski area with 171cm of snow in resort. The last snowfall was on today with around 15cm falling.
There are 100% of pistes open in the Courchevel ski area with 100% ski lifts open.
Bring your snorkels – we are swimming in powder. As the clouds are peeled back by the brilliant sun, the true extent of Monday’s dump is slowly being revealed. Not a single square or jagged edge in sight, everything covered by the fluffiest, roundest snow, dome shaped on every surface. Across the valley the huge south-facing avalanche slips have been erased by the snowy concealer, and closer to home the brown muddy gritted paths are again an untrodden whiteness. French holidays have finished, Easter has yet to start and the diminished hordes are rushing out this morning, waddling as fast as they can, to find their own patch of powder. If you were to ski to music today it would have to be to something like, “Elbow: One Day Like This” or “The Verve: Bitter Sweet Symphony” – something euphoric, beyond the vocabularic scope of a single snow report. No music for me today though, the silence of skiing in powder being the sweetest thing of all.
