Courchevel Snow Report, 12 Mar 2010

Courchevel, FranceThe snow base is 127cm at 2700m and 113 cm at 1850m.

What a great week! With initial forecasts of clouds and light snow for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday we have been surprised by the consistent arrival of the sun every morning. This morning looks to be no different, presenting conditions apt at making you feel warm even if it is actually very cold in resort at the moment.

This week the pistes have remained excellent in Courchevel, thanks largely to the low temperatures but more so to the amazing slope maintenance and snow making of the piste bashers and snow guns which ensure that even by the end of the day, the snow is still great for that final run.

Due to its hard-packed nature, the snow this week is not really suitable for a day off-piste but instead it is perfect for picking up speed quickly and flying down some of the lovely wide Blues down in 1650 or a day in the park practicing your 180.

Sun, sun and more sun forecast for the next three mornings, possibly with some more cloud cover in the afternoons and a little bit of snow overnight.

This week is Cineski week in Courchevel, inviting you to put your skis together and hang up your poles as you are invited to the premieres of 5 new films this week at cinemas around Courchevel. Some of the directors will even be there to watch with the audience and then for a short discussion afterwards. You can even get in free if you go down to the tourist office and ask.
