Avoriaz Snow Report 23 Mar 2012

Avoriaz, FranceUpper pistes of the international Portes du Soleil have a base of 260cm and in resort there is 200cm on the slopes.

The fresh snow we had at the beginning of the week has topped things up nicely with the offpiste on the north facing slopes.

The pistes themselves are staying firm throughout the day up until mid-afternoon where some of the lower lying slopes can become sticky and slightly slushy.

As always the cold temperatures over night enable the pisters to shape the pistes back to normal, ready for the next day.

The sun has been shining all week and will continue into next week, whilst the conditions aren’t what they were in mid-January. Spring skiing is a lot of fun and warm!!! All the guests this week have loved the conditions and it is a perfect time of year to try something new, whether a complete beginner, wanting to learn a new discipline or perfecting those tricks, the snow is perfect for this.

Weather forecast for next 3 days is for mainly sunny and clear days.

We are looking forward to the  Rock the Piste Festival 24th – 28th March

It was its first year last year and because of the huge success it is back again!!! This involves some of the country’s biggest acts coming to Avoriaz and playing concerts for free, anywhere! There will be stages built into the pistes and also in the centre of town.  People gather and literally rock on the piste, there will be bbq’s and refreshments and obviously some great entertainment!
