Avoriaz Snow Report 20 Mar 2012
Almost 50cms in the last 36 hours and glorious sunshine today. Upper slopes have a depth of 290cm and lower runs 230cm. We have had almost 50 cms in the last 36 hours and we have woken to glorious sunshine today. Literally the perfect conditions.
The snow fell all the way down to 700m, therefore every piste top to bottom, has a lovely new layer of snow. These really are perfect conditions. Offpiste will remain a little unstable for a couple of days until the new snow packs in, after which there will be a lot of powder to ride and I for one plan to make the most of that this Thursday on my day off.
The Stash has also been topped up nicely and will hopefully now last out until the end of the season as it does require fresh snow to make every part of the park hittable. I am told that the Chappel park this morning has been amazing, with the jumps inparticular very enjoyable and soft. Great for trying out those new tricks!
Weather forecast for next 3 days is for sunny and clear days till the weekend.
Looking forward to Rock the Piste Festival 24th – 28th March
It was its first year last year and because of the huge success it is back again!!! This involves some of the country’s biggest acts coming to Avoriaz and playing concerts for free, anywhere! There will be stages built into the pistes and also in the centre of town. People gather and literally rock on the piste, there will be bbq’s and refreshments and obviously some great entertainment!
