Avoriaz Snow Report, 16 Mar 2010
The ski conditions at the moment are good with plenty of snow on the pistes measuring over 2 metres deep at the top of resort and 165cm at resort level despite all of the sun we have been enjoying. The large amount of snow and pristine conditions of the pistes means 100% of the ski area in Avoriaz is open at the moment as well as all the lifts. There isn’t a better time to visit the worlds biggest international ski area and advanced skiers find it hard pushed to cover it all in a week.
For the freestyle skiers there is also a huge amount to explore with all the terrain parks, border cross and the super pipe open and there is a freestyle area being built in the Linderets Valley for the freestyle show on Friday
The forecast is for sunshine with some cloud for today and the next three days. We are expecting wind speeds of between 5-10 km/h today and tomorrow however wind speeds may get as high as 25 km/h on Thursday but start to drop again on Friday to around 15km/h.
Temperatures today are between -2 and -6 however but after today will start to rise with temperatures as high as 4°C on Thursday and with a high of 6°C on Friday morning
In resort this week there is a ski rally around the Avoriaz ski area. There is also a celebration of spring in the Linderets valley including free aperitifs, a free style ski show by the ‘White Crystal’ riders and live music.
