Avoriaz Snow Report, 09 Apr 2010

SkierSuperb snow is still covering much of the upper slopes of the Portes du Soleil where the snow depth reaches 260cm.  Around the runs of the resort where our chalets are located there is 160cm.

The ski conditions at the moment are excellent having had a large snowfall last week.

There is still a lot of off-piste to be explored before the predicted high temperatures take there toll. Also with 86% of the runs open in resort and a huge amount more to be explored in the rest of the international ski area.

With the fresh fall of snow last week there have also been vast improvements made to the Border cross, Super pipe, ‘The Stash’ and all 3 snow parks so there is more than enough appeal in resort for skiers of all varieties and levels.

The snow forecast for today and the next three days is predicting sun for all of today, tomorrow and Sunday morning followed by some light snow on Sunday afternoon. We should also be seeing some light snow showers throughout Monday. the wind speeds for Today and The next 3 days are calm with speeds of 10 -15km/h. Temperatures are fairly high for today and tomorrow with day time temperatures being predicted at 1 – 5°C however temperatures are due to drop as low as -3 Saturday night and then should sit around that area for the next 2 days.

This week in resort there is a ski rally around the Avoriaz ski area.  There is also Easter Egg hunts for all the children in resort. The European Burton Snowboard team are also visiting this week and are riding a giant jump which has been

constructed especially for them.
