Arabba Snow Report 20 Mar 2012

Arabba, Italy35cm fell yesterday bringing the snow depth on the upper slopes to 278cm.

A light fall of snow has topped up the snow on the pistes, providing great skiing conditions. Great spring skiing conditions are to be had this week. South facing slopes have become quite moguled at the end of the day as the snow becomes quite soft. North slopes and those at high altitude have great skiing. The Marmolada glacier especially has welcomed skiers with great snow, great visibility and a very long run.

Those runs that are shaded by trees have also been well preserved with the runs which are also slighter steeper having  no ponding of water on them.

The resorts are starting to move into the summer season so the shops are changing their stocks with lots of sales on winter goods around. It is a great opportunity to buy skis and skiing accessories at heavily discounted prices. 

The local area is set to continue to go through spring weather, with bright sun and cloudless skies. Highs of +10 have been experienced and are set to continue. Wind speeds will stay low, between 5 and 10kmph. Temperatures will then again rise by Wednesday with some clouded skies.

Wine tasting, snow shoeing and Nordic skiing and becoming more popular as the snow conditions decline. The resort is now in wind-down mode for the summer season.
